Brass is a fascinating metal, it’s alive with many different appearances, like aged and polished, as well as different colors and tones. Chemetal offers an impressive collection, in both real brass and brass looks. The descriptions below make it easier for you to see and choose the brass that’s best for your project. Since these designs can look similar when viewed in a small sample or on the web, we want to describe and illustrate the differences between these aged brass materials.

300 Series Aged Brass

Chemetal creates several popular aged and antiqued brass designs. We make these designs in-house, by hand and machine, darkening, brushing and finishing to create a beautiful design material with a manufacturing consistency. All 4 are available in 2′ x 8′ and 2′ x 10′ sheets, plus custom (width cannot be wider than 24”). These come standard with a low pressure laminate backer, which makes handling these heavier metals easier (brass is heavier than aluminum). They are also available as “metal only”, with no backer. 900 Series Anodized Brass Looks

Aluminum Anodizing is a process that combines electrical current and treatment baths to create a protective coating on aluminum. It’s a popular and widely used material, in both interior and exterior settings. Additionally, color pigments and brushings can be added during the manufacturing process to make aluminum look like brass, copper or other metals. Though not as rich as real brass, these metals are good looking, durable, lighter in weight, affordable and available in 4 foot widths. They are shown below as thumbnails, the best way to see the subtle differences is to request samples.

700 HPL Metal Laminate Brass looks

These are true laminates, a thin aluminum foil, colored to look like brass, atop a laminate backer. They’re durable and easy to apply for anyone familiar with laminate fabrication.

800 Series Brass

Solid Brass designs, 800 Series brass designs are exceptionally rich and offer luxurious visual depth as well as durability. Available in 2’ widths, standard 8’ and 10’ lengths, plus custom. Available with low pressure laminate backer or as solid metal.

600 Series Architectural Metals

Architectural Metals are printed metals with impressive depth, reflectivity and subtle colors. Available on 4’ x 8’ aluminum sheets, these metals are aged and historical brass representations.
