To create magnetism a thin layer of iron foil is sandwiched in the HPL backer. Because the layer of iron is so thin, these materials can be cut with woodworking equipment, with minor modifications. #160 is a thicker steel material with dry erase enamel coating that offers excellent magnetism and affordability but cannot be cut with woodworking equipment.
